The Artarmon Fair Explained
Since 2003 the Artarmon Progress Association has organised an annual community fair. In late 2008 it was decided that the fair would run every second year with Heritage Committee functions on the alternate years. The objective of the fair is to
provide opportunity for the many diverse aspects of Artarmon to come together to share information and celebrate our strong
community and its heritage.
It is an opportunity for businesses and community groups to raise the profile of what they do as well as support each
other in terms of fundraising.
Part of profits from the Fair in the past have been contributed back into the community through donations. For more details click here
The event is organised with the support of Willoughby City Council and the National Trust. The Artarmon Community
Fair is frequently held during the Heritage Festival in April or May each year to further promote Artarmon's
heritage/conservation status.
The Fair aims to:
- focus on the whole community through the creation of a place of celebration and activity with stalls promoting local
business and community services, kids entertainment, school activities including our wonderful Artarmon School bands,
local artists and much more,
- raise the profile of current Council plans for Artarmon. Over the last five years this has included
the upgrade of Wilkes Ave Plaza and the redevelopment of the Community Library site;
- promotion of the work of the APA, Neighbourhood Watch, Sustainability Street, Willoughby Environmental
Protection Association, Noah's Ark Toy Library which supports children on the north shore with developmental
disabilities and the Artarmon Public School;
- focus on Artarmon's "heritage" through displays and tours to local areas of historical interest.
To assist with the sponsorship of activities and to further engage the local business community, the APA has
developed a Local Business Heroes Sponsorship Program. This is a way of encouraging local business to support the Fair
and the many community organisations that need funding assistance.
Our Local Business Heroes Sponsorship Program has been tremendously successful with the following organisations
supporting the Fair since its inception.
